To apply the classification consistently and reliably, quality education is essential. To develop quality educational material, it is not desirable that new educators be left to duplicate previous efforts. Therefore, FDRG members and collaborators agreed that a portal to educational materials would be of great benefit. Additionally, the materials collected could be rated by users or evaluated according to quality criteria.
A small group came together to specify the scope of the web-based portal, to define the descriptive and search criteria and to specify the technical requirements for making available the educational materials in a user-friendly, accessible tool. Each member committed personal financial resources and time to develop this site. The prototype was demonstrated at the World Health Organization’s Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC) meeting in October 2015.
The users of the site have informed ongoing development of the site which, relaunched in September 2017, includes new features such as the forums, the database of ICF advisors and educators and the news section.
You are invited to the next course for trainers on the ICF. This course will be presented by ICanFunction Health in collaboration with the Dutch and African Collaborating Centres of the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC).
This course was developed to meet the increasing need for information and education on ICF, especially its application in practice, education and research. The training is aimed at a broad audience with special attention to the care sector.
